A couple ideas for making parting lines (small gaps) a little easier. A material that works great is birch wood, you can get it at Michaels craft supply store, and it comes in very thin thicknesses. This example is 1/16". Birch wood is sturdy enough for this, and also cuts very easily. So you can use a profile gauge to find the contour of the panel where the parting line will be. Then lay the profile gauge on the birch wood and cut the contour out. This will make a really nice fit in the parting line against the panels, and allow you to fill it in one shot.
